The tendency in Sweden is to have elderly people in their own home for as long as possible. However there are various types of facilities where skilled nursing services are provided and where rehabilitation is possible under the supervision of licensed nurses.
One of the tasks of the municipality is to adapt housing, to
use technical aids and to provide medical services and nursing in the homes
of patients. In this way it is possible for elderly and disabled people to
stay in their own home.
