PAGURO EXPAT COUNTRY GUIDE:  SWEDEN

Sweden

Expatriate guide to settling, living and thriving in Sweden

Welcome to Stockholm, 'The Venice of the North' with over 30% of the city made up of waterways and another 30% of parks and green spaces.
It is a beautiful city with the positive aspects of a capital which means plenty of opportunities to go to the theater, opera, ballet, night clubs, restaurants, museums while, at the same time, being manageable in size and still quite safe.
It has an incredibly effective public transport system and you do not need a car for your everyday life.

It is a city of contrasts with days which are very long in Summer and very short in Winter and temperatures that are never too hot in Summer but surely very cold in Winter to the point that many of the waterways around the city are frozen, allowing the unique experience of ice skating around this very attractive capital city and its archipelago.

You can have a wonderful quality life in Stockholm and always have something to do in every season: ice skating, skiing, playing hockey in Winter and sailing or walking in the many forests around the city in Summer.
