Ethnic events  

  • Walpurais Night Celebration
    April 30 every year. Traditional celebrations welcoming spring. Bonfires  and fireworks light up the skies. Skansen has one of the most famous celebrations.

    Traditional Celebrations at Skansen with the Royal Family. June 6. Skansen.

  • Ingmarsödaaen
     A day of celebrations at Ingmarsöin the archipelago. You can sailor row around the  island in old boats or visit the market and festivities at shore. There is no bridge to the island so you must take a boat. Take a boat from Strömkajen in the city or take the bus 626 to Åsättra on Ljusterö and then take a connecting Taxiboat across to Ingmarsö.   • Bellmanifestivalen
    Bellman was a Swedish national poet and song-writer. He was a party person and people commemorate him by having a good time. Music, theater, guided walks and tours at Skansen, Hagaparken, Djurgården and other places.

    A large international boat show.

  • Stockholm Smartshow
     A group of young, cutting edge gallery owners started Smartshow a few years back as an alternative to the more traditional Stockholm Art Fair. They run at the same time.
  • Wilderness Exhibition at Sollentunamässan.

     International cultural festival in Galär parken,Djurgården with foods,crafts,music and entertainment.

Sport events

The following sport events are organized annually and they are open to the public.

  • Tjejtrampet
     The world's largest bicycle race for women. A 42 km course. June.

  • Stockholm Marathon
     Runners from all over the world meet in Stockholm for this race that runs two laps around the city. Start and finish at Stadion. June.

  • Gotland Runt
     The ocean sailing race starts at Sandhamn and rounds Gotland and returns. The night before the race and the days after the boats start to come in, Sandhamn turns into a mad party scene. June. KSSS

  • Stockholm summer games
     International Youth Competition in approx. 20 various sports arenas in Stockholm. Soccer, basketball, badminton, mountainbike, track and field, athletic, golf, gymnastics, bowling, wrestling, in all 19 disciplines. June- July.

  • Midnattsloppet.(Midnight race)
    A night -time running race through the southern parts of Stockholm. Approximately 15,000 runners participate sometimes stopping for a drink on the way. August.

  • Tjemilen
    Running competition for women starting at Gardet. Approximately 30000 participants. August.

  • Stockholmsloppet
    Half the distance of a marathon race. One lap around Stockholm. Start and finish at Stadion. Sept.

  • Segelbatens dag (Sailboat day)
