Singapore - Items that are forbidden to import
Prohibited items - the following items cannot be brought into Singapore:
- Narcotics and Controlled drugs - the warning on the Singapore Customs website says, “Death for drug traffickers under Singapore law.”
- Pornographic Material
- Fire Crackers
- Chewing tobacco and imitation tobacco products
- Cigarette lighters of pistol or revolver shape
- Chewing gum – not sold in Singapore and not allowed to be chewed in public. If found doing so, one could be jailed for one year or fined $5,000. Since 1992 Singapore has banned the import, manufacture and sale of chewing gum. This law was enacted after doors on a train were stuck with chewing gum and were unable to be opened.
- Endangered species of wildlife and their by-products
- Video tapes, video compact discs, laser discs, records or cassettes that don’t comply with copyright laws
- Seditious and treasonable materials
