Oslo - Pets
Horse, pony, dog, cat, budgie, canary bird, hamster, rabbit and tropical fish are the most common pets in Norway, but some farm animals may also be used as pets. Dog owners have to obey the national and local leash regulations (båndtvang). Dogs have to be kept on a lead when outdoors, unless they are kept in a fenced in area. Owners of cats and dogs are encouraged to register their pets and have them micro chipped or tattooed, as well as have them sterilised, to reduce the population of stray animals. Some housing co-operatives do not allow tenants or co-owners to keep pets. If you rent a house, make sure you check with the houseowner about keeping a pet.
