Gas is rarely used for cooking or heating (oil is used rather than gas) in Norwegian homes, but gas cookers are used in restaurants (preferred by gourmet chefs) and professional kitchens. However, smaller gas cookers may be used in cabins and cottages and for camping, where electricity is limited or not available.
