Mexico City - Special Needs Children

Mexico is slowly but surely gaining awareness of and the means to help children and adults with special needs. A lot is yet to be done, though.
You can now find specially marked parking spaces in many parking lots, and associations are gaining strength and presence within the community. Some chain supermarkets, like Superama and Wal-Mart offer special services and wheelchairs, and in general, cinemas and malls offer ramps and assistance.

The local government of Mexico City has set up a register of persons with special needs, to be used in case of emergency. Likewise, there is a register to match donors and petitioners of orthopedic devices. For additional information you may contact the Mexico City government at their “Locatel” hotline
