Kuwait - Water and sewer service

Tap water is safe to drink. It is desalinated water that has been mixed with a small percentage of brackish water to improve the taste and provide additional minerals. Most households have filters rigged up to one of the kitchen taps in addition to a water dispenser which can be purchased at any major supermarket or at one of the water companies.

Rent agreements do not always include the payment of water, so you will need to clarify this point prior to signing. Should you be required to pay the water bill directly you will need to visit your local office of the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW), sometimes referred to as the Ministry of Energy (MoE). On production of your Civil ID, rent agreement and payment of a refundable deposit the account will be transferred to your name.

Most areas in Kuwait are connected to an underground sewerage system.
