Hong Kong - Food Shopping

The two main grocery stores are called Wellcome and Park N Shop. Park N Shop has some stores that are listed as “superstores” which have more variety. Both stores will deliver. You will have the option of going and shopping and having the non-perishables delivered (either that same day or the next, depending on when you buy the food), or you can order off the Internet and have everything brought to your home. A word to the wise is that I don’t order meat, vegetables, or fruit for delivery. Those items you should pick out yourself.   

You should be aware that there is a season for durian fruit and if you’re not familiar with this smelly fruit, you’ll wonder what is wrong with the supermarket! Durian fruit is a large, spiky fruit with a creamy inside. Don’t let the smell put you off from the supermarket!

Online shopping

Grocery stores are on-line and will deliver to your house.  The websites have been included in the stores section.

Many hotels and bakeries can provide you with cakes for any occasion.  For birthdays, here are a few places to buy cakes.

Bread 

Bread can be bought at a local grocery store or at a local bakery.  It will not be difficult to find.

Cakes and Pastries can be bought at many of the superstore grocery stores (such as a Superstore Park N Shop, or a large Wellcome.)  Also, the bakeries of fancy hotels also have incredible cakes.  Try the Cake shop at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for divine items.
