Hong Kong - Private Schools

Hong Kong has many international schools that are excellent. The choices are abundant, but many schools are at capacity and have waiting lists for new students. As soon as you know you are moving to Hong Kong, you should begin the search for a school as they are filling up fast, especially at the pre-school and primary schools. Check with your company to see if they have any debentures (paid reserved spots) at any of the schools as this should get your child in with little difficulty. Some schools will require that you pay a debenture to secure a place and the money (without the interest) will be returned to you when the child leaves the school. Also, many schools have more than one campus, so be aware that after one or two years your child may have to move to graduate to a new location.
The country code for Hong Kong is 852. The English School Foundation schools (ESF) do not require debentures and will assign you a school closest to where you live, but are low on spaces for new students.

    There are about 15 schools run by the ESF.  The school that your child would go to is regulated by where you choose to live. ESF schools are currently subsidized by the HK government, but that may soon change as the government is looking for ways to cut its debt, so the price may dramatically increase soon.
