Both Lohnsteuer-Anmeldung and Umsatzsteuer-Anmeldung are sent to the Finanzamt. The Finanzamt is divided into five sections, according to the initial of your surname. The exception to this is if you are married, and your surname is different to that of your spouse, the woman must register with the department that deals with the first letter of her husband's surname.
