Munich - Continuing Education
You will see many signs around the city on lamp posts advertising adult education courses. The largest and cheapest organisation in Munich that offers continuing education courses for adults is the Volkshochschule. It offers courses on absolutely everything! All types of sport and fitness, cooking, languages (including German for foreigners and other 'foreign' languages), crafts, music, IT, etc. The language of instruction is German, so it helps to have a little knowledge of German before enrolling.
The Volkshochschule has two semesters each year, one in spring (Frühling) and one in Autumn (Herbst). Each semester goes for about 18 weeks. One thing you have to look out for is what day of the week your class is on in view of public holidays. Classes that are missed due to public holidays are not run on another day or refunded, so if there are lots of public holidays on a Tuesday in a particular semester, don't do a Tuesday course!
Another thing to look for when choosing a course is where it actually takes place. The Volkshochschule has numerous hosting venues throughout the city, so make sure you can get to your class easily.

You will also see ads on the train and in various public places offering Nebenstudium. This is study you do on the side, whilst working full time. The institutions offering these courses usually have an IT, economics or healing bent.
The universities and colleges listed in the Universities and Colleges section also run continuing education courses.
