Houston - Sport shopping
Shopping for sports equipment involves research, pounding the malls and spending lots of money - American sports designers have thought of every gadget, piece of equiment and clothing that anyone could hope to find!
So, the difficulty here is: how to wade through the choice, in order to find what you actually need, might want and then, after the enormous array of goods is sitting before you, how to actually decide what you really need alongwith, 'it would be good to have'.............as well as!
To try and make this section logical and until you have become orientated within the Houston shopping scene, Paguro has broken the section into two parts:
· Multi or chain stores
· Specialist sports shops
Chain Stores
Multi or chain stores include Target and Walmart: stock varying supplies of sports attire, sneakers
(trainers), roller blades, water aids and suits, at the lower end of the price range.
Academy Sports
supplies everything from fishing, water sports, golfing, cycling, jogging strollers, roller blades, toys, camping, racket sports, hunting, navigational equipment, weight training equipment, soccer etc., as well as clothing and footwear.
Sports Authority
Supplies the entire range of equipment that you may ever need, including golf and watersport accessories, clothes etc.
Most of the better known chains run sports and clothing lines as well as footwear ranges for both men and women. These include Reebok and Nike specialist shops, Polo Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Saks Off 5th Avenue, as do all the department stores, including but not limited to Marshalls, Foleys, J.C. Penney, Dillards, Mervyns, Ross etc. All the malls have similar representations for finding sports equipment
Specialist stores
Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World: for all outdoor pursuits to ski boats, fishing to hunting and camping equipment and attire.
Sun & ski Sports: supplies ski (water and snow) equiment, cycling, camping, hunting equipment and attire.
REI (Katy Freeway, I-10) and Westbank Angler (Westheimer): stock Patagonia outdoor clothing if you are travelling further afield from Houston.
This list could go on forever, so it is intentionally Southwest specific. However, we would appreciate feedback from you, if you have a specialist store advice to offer to the community.
