Healthcare in the United States is paid through a combination of private and public funds. Private funds are comprised of insurance, out-of-pocket monies and monies given through philantropy, while public funds are obtained from Medicare, Medicaid, State Child Healthcare Insurance program, veteran's programs, state and local programs and workman's compensation programs.
