Houston - Furniture

The furniture district in Housotn is in the west area, where many antique and modern furniture shops are lined up along the main street of Hillcroft, Fondren and to a minore extent Harwin Rd. 

Modern type furniture were not much available in the past, but  they are becoming more common in town. The selection is still not as great as the traditional style, which represents the vast majority of choices in most shops.

That is the case of Star Furniture, Gallery Furniture, The Furniture Idea, Etan Allen, Louis Shanks, the Dump, Aaron's (sells also appliances and TV, as well as renting furniture), Hoffer (rents office and house furniture). All are chain stores which cater mostly to southwestern style.

For decoration item Pier 1  and World Market offer many household items imported from various countries. There is something for every taste.

Many expatriates rely on buy from other expatriates for their local need (or Ikea!), but if you are after special items you should consider a time wait, as mostly they get ordered and delivered from overseas in three to six weeks.

Online shopping is very common and the offer is large and growing.
