Singapore - Volunteers
When arriving in a new country, you could find yourself without a social network and maybe even without a sense of purpose in the beginning. That's when volunteering can bring you back into the swing of things! Paguro has plenty of suggestions as to where you can contribute with your talent!

In Singapore there are many opportunities to volunteer. The most easily accessible volunteer jobs for foreigners are with organizations in the expatriate community. These all depend on volunteers to run their various groups and activities. Schools and church groups are the next places to look. There may be more obstacles to volunteering with a group that works in the local community. Language is not always an obstacle because many Singaporeans speak English, but many volunteer groups will be working with people who only speak Malay, Tamil or a Chinese dialect. Being aware of local cultures is also important.
Many of the expatriate groups in Singapore have links with local charities and organise volunteer activities so joining one of these groups would be a good way to get started. (see Associations)
