he opera tends to come to town during the HK Arts Festival held each year in February. 

Dance
Dance shows are usually advertized in the HK Magazine, the South China Morning Post, and at City Hall.  Supurb dance groups come to Hong Kong throughout the year, and especially during the HK Arts festival.

    A company that has a wide range of shows throughout the year, including The Nutcracker each Christmas.

    This company brings modern dance to Hong Kong and has some very talented dancers!

The HK magazine lists the current concerts and you can pick up this magazine for free around town or subscribe to a weekly e-mail update at www.hk-weekend.com . An even better option is to check out the Hong Kong Arts and Leisure Department and to get on their mailing list.  You can go to City Hall in Central (next to the Star Ferry) to sign up or to pick up brochures on upcoming events.  Usually in February there is the Arts Festival and Hong Kong brings in stellar groups from around the world.  They start advertising in September so be sure to go in and see what will be coming as some tickets go quickly.  Their website lists events as well.  Go to www.lcsd.gov.hk/ and choose the “culture” spots to get information about upcoming events.  There is also a link to find all the museums in Hong Kong and see what they offer.  There are some fantastic museums here!

Another option is to get the insert from the Friday addition of the South China Morning Post. 

For all museums and galleries, you should call in advance to find out what time they are open and what is on display at the time you are calling. 

Symphony
The HK symphony has numerous concerts throughout the year which are advertised in the HK Magazine, the South China Morning Post, and the government's leisure website.  If you go to City Hall (next to the Star Ferry) you can obtain information about concerts and get on the mailing list for the symphony. 
World renowned symphonies come to town during the HK Arts Festival in February, so be sure to get your tickets early. 

Theatre
T
heatre is not as common in Hong Kong, and sometimes hard to find in English.  HK Magazine is an excellent source to find out what shows are on around town.
