Munich - Clubs and Bars

Bars "Kneipe"
If you have Irish roots, then you will feel at home at one of Munich's plethora of Irish pubs. These include Günther Murphys in Nikolaistr and Kilian's just behind the Frauen Kirche. Kilian's shares its premises and kitchen with Ned Kelly's Bar, an Australian pub. Other Aussie pubs include the Outland at Weißenburgerplatz and Bondi Bar on Sonnenstr.

Cafe on Marienplatz
A bar with a view of the Glockenspiel

Cocktail House
Feilitzschstr. 25
or
Schumann's
Maximilianstr.
For cocktails, go to any Spanish restaurant (most stay open after regular dinner serving hours for cocktails that are also served with dinner), but dress up if you want to get in to Schuman's!.

Hofbrauhaus
Platzl
Serves beer by the litre, and always has an oompah band playing and lots of tourists getting into the swing of things.

Clubs
There is a wide choice of venues for dancing.

P1 is the exclusive night club on the west side of the Haus der Kunst. I've heard it's hard to get into, so I've never tried, but it looks and sounds like a happening place!

Kunstpark Ost used to be the nightclub centre of Munich. It has been 'officially' shut down, but many of the clubs are still opening, with special theme nights, including Babylon and Milch Bar.

Some nightclub venues double as concert venues. These include Muffathalle on Zellstr and Backstage on Helmholtzstr.
