Stockholm - Tax treaties

Foreign nationals who reside in Sweden and are paid here usually pay Swedish income tax instead of paying tax in their own country. Sweden has negotiated agreements with some 40 countries in order to avoid double taxation. The contents of these agreements vary considerably and changes may occur from one year to another. Some apply to visits of up to two years, others to one-year visits only. Some agreements apply to studies, not research, some to professors only, others to anyone who has been invited by a Swedish institution. Information about these agreements may be obtained from Tax authorities in your own country or in Sweden.

Please note that any income derived from sources other than those covered by a double taxation agreement is also taxable here
