Sweden is a disabled friendly country. The underground system was build keeping in mind disabled people, elderly people and parents with young children. All the underground stations have electric staircase and lifts. The city buses are built in such ways that also people in wheelchairs and prams can use them without a problem. In general wherever in the city you need stairs to go up or down, you will always find lifts next to them.

If you are a disabled resident in Sweden you will be able to take advantage of the national health  system. People in hospitals for long term patients, in nursing homes and those living in service apartments, have access to nursing in service 24 hours a day. Great importance is attached to making these places as much like home as possible. Most of the patients, for example, in nursing homes, have their own room.
