Singapore - Garbage

Four private companies have a contract with the National Environment Agency (NEA) to collect garbage in different parts of the island. The garbage collection fee is included in the SP Services Utility bill along with electricity, gas and water. The monthly fee for an apartment is around S$10 and around S$20 for a house. The garbage is collected every day.

If you live in an apartment building, the garbage will be put in a rubbish shute near the kitchen. The garbage for the shute should be put into a plastic bag. Ask your building’s management about how to dispose of recyclable garbage like newspapers and glass bottles.

If you are living in a house, check with the landlord about the procedures for dealing with the garbage.
