Singapore - Healthcare emergencies

Police: Tel 999
Ambulance/Fire Brigade: Tel 995

The ambulance service in Singapore is provided by the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF). These SCDF ambulances take patients to the nearest government hospital. Patients cannot be taken to a private hospital, but they will go to the government hospital of your choice if the travel time allows. After the initial treatment at a government hospital a patient may choose to transfer to a private hospital.

You can choose to call the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department of a private hospital and ask for an ambulance. Generally these ambulances drive at the same speed as the traffic, without a siren. If the patient can walk it may be quicker to go by car or taxi to the nearest hospital.

The Mt. Elizabeth, Gleneagles, and East Shore hospital ambulances (Parkway Ambulance Service) have intravenous equipment, oxygen, and complete life support drugs. A driver and registered nurse (trained in both basic and advanced life support) are on board and have telephone contact with a doctor at the hospital's A&E department. (See ‘Hospitals’ for A&E dept telephone numbers)
