Singapore - Doctors
General information
Singapore has highly-qualified specialists in all fields. Gleneagles and Mt Elizabeth hospitals have specialist medical centers where you can walk in but it is better to call and make an appointment first. (Telephone 6735-5000 to make appointments for specialists at either hospital). Specialists in government hospitals can be seen only by referral and appointments are necessary.
It is a good idea, especially if you have children, to establish a relationship with a local doctor who speaks your own language and is familiar with your culture. Ask at your country’s embassy, national association or women’s group for recommendations.
General physicians
You can see a general physician and if necessary be referred to a specialist doctor at the 24-hour walk-in medical centres at Mount Elizabeth and Gleneagles Hospital.
The International Medical Clinic provides family and travel medicine services for the international community with staff from Europe, North America and Australia.

Eye Care
There is a full range of facilities for eye care available in Singapore from opticians supplying glasses and contact lenses to specialist ophthalmologists treating serious eye diseases. Specialist ophthalmologists can be found at the following centers and there are many more listed in the Yellow Pages under “Medical Practitioners”.
The Ministry of Health licenses all contact lens practitioners. However not all licensed contact lens practitioners are professionally qualified opticians or optometrists, so look in the Opticians-Ophthalmic section of the Yellow Pages for practitioners with overseas qualifications.
