Oslo - Unexpected

Norway is considered a peaceful and safe country and crime traditionally has been low, but the crime rate is increasing. The country has little pollution compared to bigger and more heavily industrialised countries. There are few dangerous animals, and you are not likely to meet any in built up areas. However, make sure you have sufficient insurance if anything unexpected should happen, such as a burglary, a natural disaster (floods, storms, frozen pipes or broken ice), car accidents, injury, illness or loss of income, for instance. The Social Security office (trygdekontoret) can inform you of benefits that you may be entitled to if something unexpected should happen.
