Oslo - Expat clusters

Most ex pats in the Oslo area live in the western parts of Oslo and in the neighbouring municipalities Asker and Bærum (west of Oslo), in the county of Akershus.
Many prefer to live near the International School (OIS), which is situated in Bekkestua, Bærum or in nearby areas where the OIS school bus has its route (the bus also serves Asker and Oslo).
Ex pats without children often prefer to live more centrally (Frogner, Bygdøy), with short distances to down town areas. The driving distance between downtown and Bærum is on average half an hour. From Asker it could be 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
There is a well developed public transport system (buses and trains) that serves Oslo, Asker and Bærum.
