Emergency care
Emergency care (legevakt) outside normal office hours.
It is usually difficult to make an appointment to see a doctor urgently (the same day or the next day). However, a GP's office/clinic would often tell you to call first thing in the morning (around 8 am) in order to get an urgent appointment the same day. Doctors do not make home visits during or out of surgery hours. If you need to see a doctor quickly or out of normal office hours you need to go to the nearest emergency clinic (legevakt), which usually is attached to a hospital. Remember to provide your personal identification number (personnummer), which you obtain from the Social Security office (trygdekontor) or the registry office (folkeregister). For more information about the personal identification number, see Immigration.

Dangerous animals
The only venomous snake in Norway is the adder (huggorm) or European viper, recognized by the black zig zag pattern against a brown background on its back.
This snake can be found in the forest area surrounding Oslo.

Predators in Norway are bears, lynx, wolves, and wolverines. The stock of wolves is growing and wolves have been seen in the Oslo surroundings (Nordmarka).
