Mexico City - Public Transport

Buses
Buses run at regular times and if it is not rush hour, they are a good way to get around. You do have to have the exact change, which used to be two pesos.

Colectivos
They also have Colectivos (also combis or peseros) a sort of mini bus. You can flag them down just about anywhere and if the bus is not full, they will stop. The minimum fare is 2.50 pesos, but depending on how far you want to go, the price rises.

Metro
The Metro is cheap and easy to use. You can transfer between 9 lines at no extra cost. The hours are from 5 am to half past midnight (1.30am Sa, 1am Sundays and holidays).
At peak hours, several cars are reserved for women only. But the Metro only works within the city proper, no lines go out to suburbs.
