As there is nothing in the way of serviced apartments, hotels are the best source of temporary accommodation. All the major (and expensive!) hotel chains have premises in Munich.

Temporary Accomodation
Other than hotels, it is next to impossible to get temporary accommodation in Munich. A lease of less then three years' duration is considered temporary, and three months' notice is required if either the landlord or the tenant wishes to terminate a lease agreement. There is no such thing as serviced apartments. So finding temporary accommodation while you're waiting for a suitable apartment or house to become available is very difficult.

One company that does offer temporary, furnished accommodation to cater to all budgets is Mr Lodge. They advertise the properties they have on the web, with pictures, so you can see a little bit of what you're getting before you arrive.
