Paris - Climate

Paris sits in the heart of the region Ile de France, a plane not far from the sea, which has one of the lowest rainfall index of France and enjoys a temperate climate, thanks to the influence of the Gulf Stream.

Nevertheless the closeness to the ocean and the fact that it sits on a plane makes the weather in Paris very changeable and quite unpredictable with unexpected rain showers occurring throughout the year, especially in winter and spring.

Temperature in summer are normally mild to warm, but peak of hot weather may induce heat waves (and the lack of air-conditioning in most public buildings and hotels can make life quite miserable during these times).

Winters can go from mild to very chilly with temperatures close to freezing point or at times even below zero, when the blowing sharp and cold wind makes the temperature drop even more.
