France - Immigration

For non-european residents: if you plan to spend more than three months, you must obtain a long-term visa before your departure to France. The visa is mandatory in order to request a temporary residence card. Contact the closest French Consulate to obtain the visa. Not all non europeans can access the country for a short period without the visa. Check this page to learn if you can enter the country without the short term visa: www.france.diplomatie.fr/venir/visas/index.html

If you are a european resident, you do not need a visa to enter France. The documents you must have are:

- passport or identity card
- the form E111, in order to keep your health care

After a period of three months, a residence permit must be obtained.
