Welcome to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. With a population of some 10 million, this frenzied city with its humid sprawl and contrasting vast air-conditioned shopping malls is a fantastic example of East meeting West.
This vibrant city has changed dramatically within the last few years and in many areas meets the standards of other international cities, but some of the infrastructure and road systems leave it firmly in the past.
The traffic congestion is a constant conversation topic, as well as the fact that it is a superb hub to explore Asia from. Love or hate it, it continues to be one of the well populated locations for expats of all nationalities and backgrounds.
