Sophia Antipolis - House inspection
Buying a house/flat
In France, the seller must provide certificates to prove that the house has gone through a professional inspection of:
- the surface (the "Carrez" law)
- location of asbestos
- location of lead
- location of termites
It's the seller who must arrange this and each certificate costs around 150 euros. These documents will be given to you and to the notary who will keep them at his office.
Renting a house/flat
In France you will need a fixtures inventory before moving in to the house/flat and when you leave it. The estate agent or the owner does this inventory and it's free of charge.
